An obstacle race is great fun. The obstacles are things in the way that a player has to overcome. It may be clothes he has to put on or take off; or things he has to do. Plan to race in a big open space, and line up your obstacles. Here is a suggestion-perhaps you will think of more to add:
Put on a hat, Crawl under a blanket
Eat a cracker, Put on some glasses
Whistle, Turn a somersault
Sit down in a chair, Climb over a chair (tipped over)
(When there are things to do like whistling, have a stick or some kind of marker to show the player where he is to stop.)
A three legged race needs at least four people. Two players race together with their inside legs tied to one another-a left leg to a right. It is very difficult to run this way. Try it. (Use a rag for the tying.)
A balloon race is something that may be played in the house. Each person is given a balloon-blown up-and he must cross the room, keeping the balloon in the air, and hitting it only with his head. No hands allowed.
This is a good came to play at your Halloween party, but it may be played any time of the year. It is one that needs preparation before the guests arrive. Each player is taken blindfolded, one at a time, into a room where there are four trays holding the objects you have collected. Take him to each tray to test his senses, and make a note of what he has guessed because the person who names the most right, is the winner. Here are the tests: to feel
Velvet, wood, dough, cotton, sand, oatmeal, coffee, water, nuts, flower petals.
Egg beater, shutting a door, scratching a match, closing a book, winding a clock, turning on a light, pouring water, tearing paper, opening a window, snapping a finger.
Sugar, salt, water, molasses, orange juice, peanut butter, jam, cheese, bread, cake.
Perfume, coffee, vanilla, cigarette, shoe polish, camphor, peanuts, paint, onion, cheese.
