In marking out the scrim for the buttons, the following allowances for fulness have to be made: - Small chairs, 1 1/2 in. each way; easy-chair seats, 2 in. each way; easy-chair backs, 1 1/2 in. each way; couch seats, 2 1/4 in. across and 2 in. along; couch back, \\ in. each way; couch scroll, 1 3/4 in. across, and 1 in. progressively on each diamond from the bottom row, which is often low down to the seat. For bordered work, the cover should be turned under and sewn to the edge of the scrim on the top, when it cannot move during wear; while if first stitched in under the roll, it works loose and baggy in wear.
