Question 517.— Is it legal to protest a note at one o'clock on Saturday? Are we not bound to waif till three as on other days?
Answer.—A protest cannot be made on any day till three o'clock. This does not in any way conflict with the hank's right to close its doors at one o'clock. As explained in the answer referred to, the notary might present a cheque at ten in the morning, and, if then dishonoured, he would do his full duty, if he simply held it till three o'clock and thereafter completed the protest without further presentation.
