Question 51. - A cheque dated 15th December, 1901, has written across its face "payable 15th January. 1903." Does such a condition invalidate the cheque? If not. would the bank be justified in paying it before the 15th January, 1903?
Answer. - The crossing does not invalidate the instrument, but it is not a cheque; it is a bill of exchange payable on 15th January with three days' grace, and the bank could not properly pay it before maturity.
