Found growing in matted masses, on exposed rocks, and limited in range to British Columbia and the eastern base of the Rocky Mountains. Abundant on ledges of rock, between Morley and Old Bow Fort, on the right bank of the Bow River, Alberta; crevices of rocks near Limestone Point on the North Thompson River, B.C. (Macoun.)
