G. luteum: annual or biennial; stem 1-3 feet high, with hard spreading branches, everywhere glaucous; leaves thick, pinnately lobed or divided, the lobes ovate or lanceolate, sinuate or lobed, rough with short thick hairs, the upper ones shorter, less divided; flowers large, yellow, the petals very fugacious; pods 6-12 inches long, crowned by the spreading lobes of the stigma. - Sandy sea-coasts. Fl. June to August.
