A. Eupatoria: stems 2-3 feet high, clothed, like the leaves, with soft hairs; leaves pinnate, with 5-9 ovate, coarsely-toothed leaflets, intermixed with smaller ones; spike long, leafless, each flower in the axil of a small three-cleft bract; flowers, small, yellow; tube of the calyx turned downwards after flowering, forming a small burr. - Roadsides, waste places, and borders of fields.
