Family, Mint. Color, lemon yellow. Calyx, 2-lipped, the upper lip 3-toothed, the lower 2-cleft. Corolla, 1 inch long, tubular, with 4 upper, almost equal lobes, and 1 lower, quite long and large, pendent, cut and fringed. Stamens, 2, sometimes 4, standing well out from the flower. Flowers, on slender pedicels, in loose, long panicles, showy. Leaves, opposite, ovate, toothed, pointed, petioled. July to September.
Whole plant strongly lemon-scented. Perennial, 1 to 3 feet high, in rich, moist, shady woods, in all the Atlantic-States and westward to Wisconsin and Missouri.
