A species about 3 feet high, with white flowers, 2 to 4 together, nearly 1 inch broad. Leaves, 3-foliate, roughish above, whitish downy beneath. Leaflets, nearly sessile, inversely ovate, toothed, 1 to 2 inches long. Whole plant armed with stout prickles. May to July. Fruit ripe in July and August.
One of the finest wild blackberries, luscious and tender. Dry or sandy soil, Connecticut to Florida and westward.
