Some orchids, wild ruses, heaths, wild peas and beans, St. John's-worts, and mints come into bloom first in July. The array of fall flowers begins toward the last of this month, all plants, as a rule, exhibiting brighter colors, with heavier stems and foliage, than the earlier season's bloom.
