Family, Vervain. Color, white. Calyx, unevenly 5-toothed. Corolla, 5-toothed, the lobes spreading. Stamens, 4, in pairs, the 2 upper frequently imperfect. Fruit splitting into 4 nutlets. Leaves, opposite, petioled, toothed, oval, acute. Flowers, small, in spikes, rather loose, on stems 3 to 5 feet high.

Dry fields and waste places all over the Eastern States, westward to Texas. Often found growing with the blue vervain.
