Plant 2 - 6 feet tall. Found in roadsides, fields, damp pastures. Naturalized from Europe. Minnesota and Missouri east to Nova Scotia, south to South Carolina.
Yellow, solitary or few, 2 - 4 inches across, rays long and narrow.
Large, white-veined, rough above, woolly beneath, toothed; lower leaves stemmed, upper ones partly clasping plant stem.
