Round-lobed or Kidney Liverleaf: Noble Liverwort: Squirrel Cup. Hepatica triloba. Crowfoot Family. Mch. - May. Found in open woods. Nova Scotia to Florida, Missouri and Minnesota.


Variable in color, blue-violet to white, 6 - 12 divisions, borne on hairy stems 4 - 6 inches high.


From the root, with 3 rounded lobes, green or reddish purple, new leaves appearing after the flowers bloom.



Sharp-Lobed Liverleaf

H. acutiloba. Differs from the preceding in that the 3 leaflets just beneath the flower, and lobes of the leaves are more acute at the tips. Leaves sometimes 5-lobed. More common westward.
