Virginia Raspberry. Rubus odoratus. Rose Family. June - Aug. A sprawling shrub, 3 - 5 feet high, found in rocky woods, shaded roadsides. Nova Scotia to Georgia, west to Michigan.
Crimson-pink, fading as they get older, 1 - 2 inches broad. Fruit a thin, red, scarcely edible berry.
Large, lobed and toothed, hairy, similar to those of the maple in shape. Plant stems hairy.
