There are a number of districts in Colorado that produce potatoes of very high quality. Among these are: Greeley and northeastern Colorado, San Luis Valley, the Grand River country, in which Carbondale is located; the territory along the North Fork of the Gunnison River, the La Platte and Montezuma country, and the Routt County territory.
Colorado potato growers have made a name for their product, which is now generally known as " Greeleys" for the section north of Denver and east of the mountains, and "Western Slope" for all the districts west of the mountains.
