1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
2 squares melted chocolate (add last)
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 1/2 cups flour (heavy)
1 cup raisins and nuts
Method :
Drop into pans. Frosting: one cup sugar, six tablespoons water, butter, two squares chocolate, yolk of an egg when partly cold, beaten in slowly.

4 eggs well beaten
2 1/2 cups light brown sugar
1 even cup flour
1/2. cake Bakers chocolate (melted)
1 cup English walnut meats (not too fine)
1 teaspoon vanilla
Method:
Beat well before putting in tins. Bake slowly. Cut in squares while warm.

1 cup sugar
1 cup butter - half lard
1/2 cup hot water
1 cup molasses
2 teaspoons soda 1/2 pound (4 squares) Baker's chocolate
1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon allspice
2 eggs
Method :
Add flour to make mixture stiff enough to roll out one-half inch thick.
