3 cups corn syrup 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 3/4 cup lemon juice

1/2 cup cornstarch 1 1/4 quarts boiling water 4 dozen bananas

Mix salt and cornstarch with a cup cold water. Bring remaining water to boil, add to cornstarch, stirring constantly; add corn syrup and boil five minutes, then add lemon juice and grated rind. Peel bananas; cut in halves lengthwise, then each half crosswise. Put in baking dishes, add sauce, and bake thirty minutes in moderate oven.
