Cream 1 cup butter, add gradually 2 cups sugar, then 3 eggs, beating well. Melt 1 cup grated chocolate in 3/4 cup boiling water. Dissolve 1 teaspoon soda in 3/4 cup sour cream. 2 Cups brown sugar, 1/2 cup butter, cup sour milk, 1 tea-spoon soda, 3 cups flour, 2 eggs, 1/2 cup chocolate, 1/2 cup boiling water and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Cream butter and sugar and add well beaten egg yolks, melt chocolate in hot water, sift flour and soda together and add this alternately with the milk to the above. Fold in egg whites.

Part i : 4 1/2 Ounces bitter chocolate, melted, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup milk.

Part 2: 7 Tablespoons butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 3 egg yolks, 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon soda, 1/2 cup sweet milk.

Combine the ingredients of part 1, stirring them until smooth. While the mixture cools prepare part 2. Cream the butter and sugar, beat in the egg yolks and add alter-nately the milk with the flour and soda sifted together. Stir in part 1 and bake in 2 layers in a moderate oven for 30 minutes. Put together with white frosting.

Marble Front Cake

1 Cup brown sugar, 1 cup butter, 1/2 cup milk, 3 eggs, yolks of all and whites of 1 (reserve other 2 whites for icing), 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon soda, and 1 teaspoon baking powder.

Part 2: 1 Cup brown sugar and 1 cup sweet milk, 1 cup cocoa, all cooked together and cooled, then add to part 1.

Mocha Filling: Rub into 2 tablespoons melted butter 1 cup powdered sugar, a little at a time, 2 tablespoons warm coffee, 2 teaspoons cocoa. Spread.

Burnt Sugar Cake

Brown 1 cup sugar, cream 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1 cup butter, add 1 cup cold water, 2 1/2 cups sifted flour, 2 whole eggs, 2 teaspoons baking powder and 1 cup burnt sugar. Bake in layers and put together with burnt sugar filling.

Burnt Sugar Filling: 2 Cups sugar, 1 cup water, 2 tablespoons milk; 1 cup burnt sugar, cook until thick.

Crumb Cake

3 Cups flour, 3 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon nutmeg, 1 1/2 cups sugar, 3/4 cup butter and 3 eggs. Milk to make a stiff batter. Put flour, baking powder, butter, nutmeg, and sugar together (take out about a tablespoon of mixture for the top of the cake), add eggs to mixture, then the milk. Bake in a loaf.
