Whites of 2 eggs beaten stiff, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup chopped nuts, 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add sugar to stiff egg whites, mix nuts in and spread on long crisp crackers. Brown slightly in oven. Mrs. W. V. Rath bone.

Vanilla Drop Cookies

2 Cups sugar, 1 cup butter and lard mixed, 1/2 cup buttermilk, 4 cups flour, 1 teaspoon soda dissolved in buttermilk, ! teaspoon baking powder, 3 eggs beaten together, 1/2 box raisins. Cream sugar and butter, add eggs, then buttermilk and soda, add flour, baking powder and raisins, Drop on greased pan far apart and bake in moderate oven.

Christmas Fruit Cookies

1 Pound butter, 3 cups sugar, 7 eggs, 1/2 teaspoon each ginger, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon, a sprinkling of salt and pepper, 1 package each raisins, dates and figs cut in pieces, 1 full pint black walnuts, 1 rounding teaspoon soda dissolved in 1 cup sour milk. Mix batter very stiff and drop off spoon onto buttered pan. Batter should be stiff enough that cakes will not flatten out. Will keep for weeks.

Fruit Cookies

1 Cup brown sugar, 1 cup butter, 1/2 cup whole milk or cream, 2 eggs well beaten, 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup currants, I cup raisins, I teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon cream of tartar, 1/2 teaspoon soda. Drop on buttered tins and bake.

Drop Fruit And Nut Cookies

1 1/2 cups brown sugar, 1 cup butter creamed and add 3 eggs (whole), 1 teaspoon soda, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, salt, 1 1/2 cups chopped raisins, 2 1/2 cups chopped nut meats, 1 1/2 cups flour. Drop on tins and bake. Mrs. Combe.

Fruit Bars

1 Cup nuts, 1 cup dates, 1 cup figs, 3 eggs, 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk or water, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder. Bake in tins 1/2 hour, cut in bars, roll in powdered sugar. Mrs. Joe Walker, Herrin, 111.

Mrs. Dillman's Cookies

3 Cups sugar, 2 cups butter, 6 eggs beaten separately, 6 cups flour, 2 pounds dates or 1 pound dates and 1 pound raisins, 6 tablespoons water, 1 tablespoon soda, 2 tablespoons baking powder, 1 cup nuts, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla. Add whites of eggs last. Mrs. R. L. Seright.

Barbee-Dillman Cookies

2 Cups light brown sugar, 1 cup Crisco or butter, 5 tablespoons water, 1 teaspoon soda in water, 2 eggs, 1 lemon, add flour.. Mrs. R. L. Seright.

Molasses Drop Cookies

1/2 Cup molasses, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup sour milk, 1 cup lard or any other shortening, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon soda, 1 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 2 1/2 cups flour. Must be stiff. Drop by small spoonfuls on a greased baking tin. 1/4 Cup chopped raisins and 1/4 cup nuts may be added.

Cookies

2 Cups sugar, 1 cup butter, 2 large or 3 small eggs beaten separately, 1 teaspoon soda, 1 teaspoon Royal baking powder, 1/2 cup buttermilk, nutmeg or other flavoring to taste. Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and flavoring, add soda dissolved in milk and baking powder sifted into enough flour to make a rather stiff dough, otherwise they will fall, they are so rich. Chocolate Cookies

1/2 Cup butter, 1 cup sugar, 1 egg, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 2 ounces Baker's chocolate, 2 1/2 cups flour (scant), 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 cup milk. Cream butter, add sugar gradually, egg beaten well, salt and chocolate melted. Beat well, add flour mixed and sifted with baking powder, alternately with milk. Chill, roll very thin, then shape with small cutter, first dipped in flour. Bake in moderate oven.

Brownies

1 Cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 2 eggs, 2 squares chocolate (melted), 1 cup chopped nuts, 1 tablespoon vanilla. Bake in a rather slow oven. Cut in squares.
