This section is from the "American Horticultural Manual Vol1" book, by J. L. Budd. Also available from Amazon American Horticultural Manual, Part One (1902).
This is a special favorite. It has heavy dark-green foliage which is ornamental through the season and when loaded with its lace-like peculiar white flowers it attracts much attention. (Fig. 100.) It is quite hardy in sheltered positions at the North.
Fig. 100. - White Fringe (Chionanthus Virginicus).
