Most all American landholders who attempt gardening for home use are acquainted with such common vegetables as sweet corn, potato, pea, cabbage, radish, lettuce, beans, etc., and know something about their planting and care. With the hints given in this chapter a detailed description of each, with modes and methods of planting and managing, would be superfluous in most cases, and the few who need such instruction can look it up in special works on gardening for profit. At this time mention will only be made of some vegetables which as yet are too rarely found in private gardens.
