A fine Californian Poppywort, 2-8 ft. high, with deeply cut leaves and large sweet-scented white flowers, 6 in. or more across, from June to September, and with a conspicuous bunch of golden-yellow stamens in the centre. The simplest way to raise plants is from seeds sown in heat in spring, afterwards potting the plants up singly in small pots for sale. When planted in the open they must have the warmest, sunniest, and most sheltered spots, and require protection in winter in most places.
