Those who want a good plant for the centre of a bed should use this Grass, not so handsome in its flowers as the Pampas Grass, but much handsomer in its foliage and manner of growth. Here it grows over six feet high, with broad deep green leaves, and reddish-brown knotted stems. It is a more compact grower than the Pampas Grass.- H. N. Viburnum Awafuki - This beautiful hardy Japanese shrub is now in splendid condition at Belgrove, Queenstown, the seat of W. E. Gumble-ton, Esq., who describes it as the most brilliantly colored autumnal plant he has ever seen. Many of its leaves are now of a bright rose color.- Record.
