The advertisement of a leading English firm tells us that "it was raised by Nantz & Neuner, of Louisville, New York!" In a little piece of ground like England, where you may land at one edge in the morning and tumble over into the sea at the other side before sunset, it will no doubt be difficult to understand that Louisville is hard on to a thousand miles from New York, and that even then we are little more than over the threshold of entry into the United States. When wo see these continuous geographical blunders of our old-country friends, the disposition to smile is checked by the recollection of their cramped surroundings.
