An English gentleman spending a few weeks near Philadelphia, recently, expressed himself particularly pleased with the suburban gardening, which he said reminded him more of England than anything he had seen in the United States. Germantown, West Philadelphia, and Ridley Park especially, commended themselves to his good taste. The last named is a comparatively new district, but is fast growing in popular estimation. It was designed as a suburb of Philadelphia by the late Robert Morris Copeland, and is a very pleasant spot.
