The Cabbage Palm of Florida is another of the fan palms which do well in our gardens and should be found in every good collection. It is hardy, standing considerable exposure and is not particular as to soil.

There are several species belonging to the genus such as Sabal Blackburniana, Sabal Mexicana, Sabal umbraculifera, etc.

Propagate by sowing the seeds one inch deep, in early Spring, in a warm greenhouse; pot them when four inches high, and give them more room both at top and root as required.
