A monotypic genus from Nepal. An erect deciduous shrub with hollow stems, rather large ovate acuminate entire leaves and small white or purplish flowers in pendulous bracteate racemes from the axils of the upper leaves. Calyx-lobes linear, unequal. Corolla funnel-shaped. Berry many-seeded. A commemorative name.
1. L. formosa. - A very distinct and interesting shrub. The flowers are borne in verticils, gradually diminishing in size towards the tip of the raceme. The berries as well as the foliaceous bracts are of a deep dull purple, and more conspicuous than the flowers.
