The conifer Agathis (Dammara) robusta, C. Moore1), which is found along the coast of Queensland and which is known as "Queensland Kauri" or "Dundathu pine", yields an oleoresin from which 11,64 p. c. of volatile oil have been obtained. This oil has the following properties: d16°/150 0,8629; aD+20,2°; nD16.1,4766. Upon fractionation it yielded d-u-pinene almost exclusively (nitroso-chloride, m. p. 108°; nitrolbenzylamine, m. p. 123 to 124°). The oil is practically identical with American turpentine oil and may hence be regarded as a valuable commercial article.
