Family: Menispermaceae.

From the officinal root of Jatrorrhiza palmata, Miers (family Menispermaceae), H. Haensel1) obtained a volatile oil of a dark brown color: d15o 0,9307; aD, so far as the dark color of the oil permitted observation, inactive; A.V. 24; S.V. 54; readily soluble in 96 p. c. alcohol, more difficultly soluble in 80 p. c. alcohol, with the separation of brown floccules. The yield amounted to 0,00568 p. c.
