This section is from the book "Homoeopathic Domestic Practice", by Egbert Guernsey. Also available from Amazon: Homoeopathic domestic practice.
We frequently find this painful affection coming on about the fourth or fifth month, and again towards the end of pregnancy; they may attack the muscles of the abdomen, hips, back, and the lower extremities.
When they attack the muscles of the abdomen, Bella-donna, Pulsatilla, or Nux-v., will produce relief.
The back: Ignatia, Opium, or Rhus.
The hips: Colocynth, or Stramonium.
The thighs: Hyosciamus.
The legs: Calcarea, Chamomilla, Nux-v., or Sulphur.
The remedy may be taken, when there is predisposition to cramps, every night, and also on the first indications of their approach. For particular indications, see Materia Medica.
