Turpeth root, 1 troyounce.
Scammony, 2 troyounces.
Diluted alcohol, 96 fluidounces.
Mix the drugs and reduce them to a coarse powder, and macerate this in the diluted alcohol for ten days, stirring the mixture thoroughly each day; then filter. (American Journal of Pharmacy, 1881.)
