Notes

The Author has stated the use of these descriptions of the Drekkanas in his Yatra. If the Drekkana be of agreeable appearance, carrying fruits, flowers, gems and pots and aspected by benefic planets, there will be success. If they be of hideous appearance, armed and aspected by malefic planets, there will be disgrace and failure; if they carry serpents or fetters, there will be delirium and imprisonment. The Drekkana description is also of use in tracing out thieves according to Prithuyasas, son of Vara- ha-Mihira, in his Shatpanchasika, a work on Horary Astrology (a).
