The common law did not prohibit the making of contracts on Sunday, and such contracts are valid in the absence of express statutory provisions to the contrary.23 In the majority of states there are statutory provisions upon this subject.24 It has been held that Sunday laws are not an unconstitutional interference with the religious liberty of the people.25
