An offer which is not given for value or under seal may be withdrawn at any time before acceptance, even though it was originally made to remain open for a fixed time,1 or even if by its express terms it is to be irrevocable.2 An order for goods which by its terms is not binding upon the seller unless it is accepted, may be revoked any time before acceptance, even if it contains a provision that it is not subject to revocation.3 A prospective buyer who sends in a written order for goods, together with a promise not to countermand,4 or a bidder at an auction who makes a bid with a promise not to withdraw it,5 may revoke such offers before acceptance.
