Chlorid of lime, 1/2 pound, Sal-soda, 1 pound.

Put the lime and soda into a wooden pail, pour on boiling water till the pail is full, to dissolve the soda. Let it remain for some hours, and next day stir it well, strain through a cloth and put it into bottles and cork, and keep in the dark.

For taking out stains, wet the linen with water, and rub some of the javelle water on the stain, then rub with washing-soap, and roll up tightly, and put it in, to boil.
