In knock-knee, when the patient stands the knees are close together and the legs and feet are spread out, forming an angle with the knees.

1. Effleurage of the whole limb from the ankle.

2. Kneading of all muscles, as in Chapter VII. Special work is given to the outer aspect of the thigh, including the biceps muscle, which is contracted. There is also contraction of the external lateral ligament and stretching of the internal lateral ligament. Every aspect of the knee is well manipulated, also the ankle ; the foot has the same movements as in flat-foot, as it tends to become flat from the strain on the muscles which support the arch.

Exercises.—1. Flexion and extension of leg.

2.   Rotation of tibia inwards, with knee flexed.

3.  Abduction of thigh.

4.   With the leg extended, the knee is pressed outward with one hand, while the tibia is pressed inward with the other. This pressure is kept up for half a minute, and repeated several times, followed by kneading and effleurage.
