This is a convulsive twitching of the eyelids which may be either very slight or severe. The twitchings sometimes follow each other very rapidly. This affection most often occurs in persons of a nervous temperament, and when the eyes are tired from overuse and nervousness. An excited state of the mind will greatly increase the difficulty.
The general health should be improved by proper remedies. If there is any irritation of the lids, the eye douche should be daily used. The application once or twice a day of the hot spray to the eyes with the lids closed, is also a useful remedy.
