As elsewhere explained, a varicose condition of the veins is one in which they are enlarged and tortuous. The lower extremities are most often affected.
The difficulty may be readily relieved by the use of the elastic silk stocking, or of a rubber bandage. The best means for a radical cure is tying the affected veins at a number of points along their course, with long-continued rest to the limb in an elevated position.
