Officially directed to be prepared from sodium hydroxid and olive-oil (Castile soap).
Properties : Soap occurs as a white or whitish solid, hard yet easily cut when fresh, having a faint peculiar odor free from rancidity, a disagreeable alkaline taste and an alkaline reaction It is soluble in water and in alcohol.
