Hexamethylenamine is a product obtained by treating 40% formaldehyde solution with stronger ammonia water. It should be kept in tight containers.

Hexamethylenamine is used principally as a urinary disinfectant, some free formaldehyde being formed in acid urine. Dose, 0.25 Gm., diluted with at least 250 mils H2O.
