After washing out the bladder, a solution containing 1 to 2 gr. in 1 oz. of distilled water should be injected and allowed to remain for some minutes, or until micturition occurs; this lessens the muco-purulent ropy secretion from the vesical membrane: Mr. Reeves has used with success 20 gr. in 1 oz. (Lancet, i., 1853).
