In this distressing malady, iodide of ammonium, combined with arsenic, will often give a better result than either remedy alone. Weak iodine solution should be injected into the nares, or, what is more convenient, the vapor of iodine, or of carbolate of iodine, should be inhaled by the nostrils, as recommended by Melville (Lancet, ii., 1864).
