1. Keep the patient quiet.

2. Two drops of croton oil should be put on the tongue.

3. Draw the urine off, if necessary.

1. Bleed or apply leeches to the anus or behind the ear.

2. Apply counter-irritants from place to place along the limb.

3. Purgative enema.

If the patient cannot swallow, three or fout drops of croton oil should be put on the back part of the tongue, and stimulating enemata thrown up the rectum.

M. Give the powder as soon as the patient can swallow, and follow up by an ounce of sulphate of magnesium in camphor water every four or six hours, and continue according to the effects.

In consequence of hypertrophy of the heart add eight or ten minims of tincture of digitalis to each dose of the purgative medicines.
