Native from Northern Tuscany, or made by the action of Hydrochloric Acid on Borax by filtration and recrystallization. Na2B4O7+ 2HCl+10H2O=4H3Bo3+2NaCl+5H2O.


Transparent, colorless scales, of a somewhat pearly lustre, or, when in perfect crystals, six-sided triclinic plates, slightly unctuous to the touch, having a faintly bitterish taste. Solubility. - In 25.6 parts of water; in 10 of glycerin; in 15 of Alcohol.

Dose, 5 to 15 gr.; .30 to 1.00 gm.
