Valerianate of Iron. One eq. of Peroxide of Iron united to 3 eq. of Valerianic Acid. (Fe2O3, 3 C10H9O3.) Insoluble in cold, decomposed by hot water; soluble in alcohol.|j Med. Prop. and Action. Tonic and anti-spasmodic. Given in Hysteria and Chlorosis. It is not much used on account of its disagreeable odour and prone-ness to decomposition. Dose, gr. 1/2 - gr. j. in pill, with powdered liquorice and mucilage.
