Med. Prop. and Action. The root (off.) is a mild tonic and diuretic. It is now rarely employed, but was formerly held in high esteem. It contains two peculiar principles, Inulin and Helenin.

Dose, gr. xx. - gr. lx. in infusion.

Therapeutic Uses. Similar, but inferior, to Gentian.
