Med. Prop. and Action. Slightly stimulant, expectorant, and diuretic. It is best given in infusion (gr. cclx. - Aq. Oj.), in doses of fl. oz. ij., every three or four hours.
In Catarrh, it has long been a popular remedy. Dr. A. T. Thompsont states that he has witnessed much benefit produced by it in Catarrh in which there is much cough, with copious excretion of mucus, nocturnal sweats, and great prostration of strength. In Phthisis, he adds, that he has found it serviceable.
