Med. Prop. and Action. The cortical part of the root is diuretic and aperient.
In Chronic Rheumatism, Dr. Ascher-son* found that the best effects followed the use of this plant, and that it proved successful in many cases which had resisted all other remedies. He employed a concentrated decoction of the fresh herb, with its roots, or of the roots and stems dried, a quart to be taken daily. Its immediate effect he found to be powerfully diuretic.
