Demerara Pink Root. Nat. Ord. Loganiaceae. Hab. S. America.
Med. Prop. and Action. Powerful anthelmintic, two or three fresh leaves, in decoction, being sufficient for a dose. In over-doses it is an acro-narcotic poison, the poisonous principle being contained in a soft resin, Spigelin. It is particularly useful against A. Fermicularis, or maw-worm.
