Latin, Buchu (Gen., Buchu)
Eng., Buchu. The dried leaves of Barosma betulina or of Barosma serratifolia. Average Dose.-30 grains (2 Gm.).
Eng., Fluidextract of Buchu. Average Dose.-30 minims (2 mils).
Diuretic, urinary disinfectant, diaphoretic.
Principally employed in the treatment of diseases of the genito-urinary tract.
Usually prescribed in combination with other agents, the most popular preparation being the Elixir of Buchu, Juniper and Potassium Acetate.
